RealCarCost — Know what your car really costs

PCP Calculator

Personal Contract Purchase splits your payment into a lower monthly figure plus an optional final payment (the balloon). This calculator shows what returning the car actually costs versus paying that balloon and keeping it.

What this result means

Your headline monthly payment depends on the amount financed (price minus deposit), the APR, the number of payments, and the balloon (GFV) — a higher GFV lowers the monthly figure because more of the price is deferred to the optional final payment, which the headline payment itself excludes. If you want to keep the car, budget for that balloon too — the true monthly cost accounts for it, minus what the car is likely to be worth.

Methodology

Monthly payment uses a standard reducing-balance annuity formula with a residual (balloon) value. Actual lender quotations may differ due to fees, payment timing and lender-specific calculations — if you have a real quote, enter your actual monthly payment for the most accurate result.
